The following rules are based on the Kodokan 1912 rules.
- Members of the academy must pledge to benefit the state of mankind through the training of their bodies and minds.
- You must bow when entering and leaving the Dojo. Always enter and leave by the same point.
- When in the Dojo the directions of the teachers, officials and senior grades are to be obeyed.
- Etiquette is to be maintained in the Dojo, advance students must look after and lead the less advanced and they in turn must follow this lead.
- On entering the Dojo all students will sign the register for attendance.
- All students shall leave their zori (slippers) in orderly manners outside the tatame (matt)
- Always arrive in good time for your training session, late arrivals shall wait on the outside of the mat in kneeling position and await permission from the instructor to join the session.
- Unreasonable absence is not permitted, unless on account of illness or other unavoidable reasons.
- Change of address and contact to the secretary.
- Dress code should be Hakama and shall be clean and in good condition.
- All Judoka shall be clean nails to be cut short.
- No nakedness or state of undress is allowed outside the changing rooms, there shall be no chewing, spitting, swearing or committing of any act that will offend the etiquette of the Dojo.
- When in the Dojo, sit or stand correctly, never sit the legs awry, have hands in pockets (for new comers wearing training suite).
- There should be no talking, giggling, laughing or joking during the training.
- All students shall participate in BJA grading and contests. If unable to participate, contest shall be watched.
- Conform the true spirit of Judo, always foster a sincere heart, respect morality, discharge your duties, be prudent in your conduct with regard to all things be right in mind.
- Members must not use Judo techniques they learned in offensive manner inside or outside the Dojo.
- Address any instructor as "sensi" whilst in the Dojo.
- The Japanese word "Os" has a number of meanings as described below, and shall be used in the Dojo.
- Spoken as a means of conveying understanding
- May be used as the word "yes"
- May be used in greeting as a mark of respect and mutual understanding
